B’Mouth Metamorphosis 43

There was a girl who came down from the North
To visit a friend who lived not far from Corf
The journey was long, the train often late,
But Izzy arrived to be greeted by her mate.

Flo, her mate, had the whole visit planned
And on the first evening they saw local bands.
The Winchester Pub was a chilled out place,
Bringing together 6 bands, a creep and an old’n’new face.

They left sadly before the last song,
But the prospect of ice-cream drove them along.
Fed and watered they crept into bed,
Adventures of tomorrow swirling around in their heads.

The alarm went off at ten O’clock sharp,
Warming Flo that a scary morning was about to start.

A blister, odd questions and a half hour gone,
Flo joined Izzy down in the Gardens sizzling in the sun.
The interview over to Swanage they went,
For a day of indulgences they would never repent.

The Charity Shops were not as good as they had hoped,
But a walk on the Sea Front Promenade helped them cope.
Cooled by their ice cream they were ready to withstand
A long journey back sea and land.

ASDA provided food and a sought after loo.
To get back before their guests, to Winton they flew.
The movie night was enjoyed by a mixed bunch,
But only one of them brought things on which to munch.

The first film over and the guests departed,
Izzy and Flo nibbled on more rations as the second film started.
They awoke from dreams of murderers and flowers,
To another sunny day with no signs of showers.

Between Flo’s Uni and the Bookshop the morning was spent,
After lunch off to town they finally went.

At long last they saw Bournemouth’s famous beach,
Though the wind kept any warmth well out of reach.
A memorial bench was the perfect place
For two lazy bums, two ice creams and a lack of haste.

The Russell-Cotes had to be seen in a dash,
Because the doors were to close in a flash.
Thirty minutes was just enough,
Ti see beautiful mosaics and lots of Victorian stuff.

Then they went up for far too high,
To see the town from above a Balloon, the Bournemouth Eye.
It was the cheesiest attraction they’d seen by far,
The crazy narrating voice made us go: HAHA!

Having frozen to bits in the helium balloon,
They needed a cup of tea in a nice warm room.
With the added joy of the arts and crafts club,
60 Million Postcards made the perfect resting hub.

Enjoying but rushing through their creating,
They were looking forward to delicious tasting.
The menu was in a language that they understood,
And the expected food arrived which was good!
Dumplings, noodles, soup and green tea,
Filled them up absolutely perfectly.

They went seeking a Chinese Elvis
But had to settle for a connivering Irish.
Two hours of cheap beer, tension and frights
Was followed by storytelling in a pub at the end of the night.

Although they were cold and tired they still wanted ice cream,
And the Vatican Website still had to be seen.
Knowing what Magnums contained and the thinking that it was for the best,
They lay down their heads for a good night’s rest.

They spent the last morning thinking of rhymes,
Though finding them was hard at times.
Izzy left Bournemouth shortly after noon,
Both were hoping to see each other real soon!
